Chopped Tomatoes hand-dyed yarns start with the highest quality bases, carefully sourced from mills in Europe and Asia. Each base is dyed in themed collections of eight complementary colourways.
classic cashmere : 100% cashmere, 2ply lace weight, 650m / 710yd per 50g.
east : 55% silk, 45% cashmere, 2ply lace weight, 700m / 766yd per 50g.
lustrous silk : 100% silk, 2ply heavy lace weight, 500m / 547yd per 50g.
nomadology : 50% camel 50% silk, 2ply gossamer weight, 800m / 875yd per 50g.
All yarns are dyed using professional-grade colour and light fast dyes, and all rinsed yarns are soaked in an essential oil bath after dyeing. Dye lots are relatively small (8 skeins at a time), to ensure quality using the special Chopped Tomatoes layered, dip-dyeing technique.
Note: Although care is practiced to ensure consistent shades in skeins in the same dye lot, there can be slight differences, so it is recommended that skeins are alternated between rows to prevent obvious shade striping. In addition, please make sure that you order enough yarn for your project as batches may be difficult to match.shop hand-dyed yarns ...

Playing with colour isn't restricted to just yarns! Chopped Tomatoes hand spun yarns are an ongoing texture and colour study. Some of the fibres used are hand-dyed, and some are hand blended from commercial fibres. Spun on an Ashford Traveller, each yarn is unique, spun to bring out the best of each fibre.

Chopped Tomatoes fibres are ideal for both hand spinning and felting. Hand-painted in matching tonal hues in batches of 500g, giving hand spinners a chance to spin for larger projects.
Fibres are dyed with the same high quality dyes used on the yarns. Unless stated otherwise, all hand-dyed fibre need to be hand washed carefully and finished items dried flat unless it is intended to be felted.
