Having been away for so long, I'm finally home! After such a long blogging draught, I'm all hyped up and ready to get back into it! I thought I'd start off by promoting a Cardiff-based crafting group, Yarn and Yarn; we (fellow crafters and myself) met up last night and I managed to 'refill' my inspiration block after seeing what everyone else has been up to the past few months!
I took some photographs of the night, unfortunately the one photograph of myself was so blurry all you could see was a DASH of something that might resemble a smiling face! So I left that one out.
The group meets every other Tuesday evening, from 7:30pm to 10pm, and we bring along our current projects. We usually alternate between the Chapter Art's Centre, Market Road, Canton, and Thé Pot,138 Crwys Road, Roath. There are about 13 'regulars', and quite an eclectic mix of crafting styles - attending the meet-ups is a great way to learn a new craft and discover new techniques to hone your skills... We had a new knitter in our midst and she very easily found her footing with the help of some of the other girls...
Someone a little more adventurous might want to try their hand at knitting with some 'plarn' (yarn made with strands of plastic bags); here is a sample of such knitting...
A 'squeakier', yet still quite innovative alternative would be knitting with VHS tape.. I gave it a shot last night and I must say... It's quite challanging!
If you're interested in coming along to the next gathering, you can take a look at the group's Yarn and Yarn MySpace page, or if you're on Facebook, the Yarn and Yarn Facebook Group. If you have any other questions, please don't hestitate to contact me!
Whether you knit, crochet, sew... or do anything crafty with your hands for that matter, you're very welcome to come along!

Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near you.
Fortunately, I have my own crafty group meet-ups on Tuesdays locally so it's not a total loss.
I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it is to be a part of this sort of thing. I think everyone should try it at least once!
Hey Machelle, thanks so much for adding the pics - your blog looks great.
Looks good!

Hi Laura! We have lots of members with varying degrees of experience with knitting, and if you come along to one of the knitting meets, one of us will be more than happy to show you how to knit! The next meeting is this Thursday, 29th October 09, Milgis Lounge, 213 City Rd Cardiff, CF24 3JD. We usually show up at around 7:30 and stay on until we’re too sleepy to knit anymore!
