I attended the Wonderwool Festival this weekend at the showground in Builth Wells with the the girls from my local knitting group, Yarn and Yarn. Last year I didn't manage to make it so I was VERY determined to get to it this time! I had the most amazing time, topped up my stash, and headed home with an unexpected impulse buy...But let's not get ahead of ourselves here!
Here's my little angel investigating my new purchases as I was setting up the camera..
I purchased a few balls of 'common' yarns (Noro, Opal, Limbo and some King Cole Mirage) which I didn't bother taking photographs of:) These Schoppel Wolle balls win my 'squeezability' test!
Do you love my gloves? I was approached by a number of fellow knitters at the show about them.. and lots were disappointed that it was my own pattern and that I hadn't written it up! I'm working on the final touches to the pattern and it will be available very very soon! Thanks to all you ladies who admired my gloves.. and for those who have given me their email/ravelry information.. I'll be in touch!
As we walked in, Wighams Wool Work was the first stall in my eyeline, and they had a basket of hand-dyed 100% wool sock yarn for £1.50 a ball! The colours were so vibrant and the price to appealing that I couldn't resist picking these out.
I know exactly what I'm going to make with these and I can't wait to get started!
At the Krafty Koala's stand this skein of lovely, dark, plummyness caught my eye. I touched it and fell in love! It's a 75% bfl/25% nylon sock yarn.. Absolutely divine!
Over at the Tricoterie stand, this merino/tencel sock yarn was precisely what I was looking for for a pattern I'm working on. The leafy colours in the skein are my favorite combination. Maylin from Tricoterie was so lovely to me and I enjoyed our little chat while I touched and squeezed almost all her stock!
My bargain buy of the day however, as at the Meon Valley Mill stall, where I purchased this squishy lot of wool/linen handspun yarn for less than £20! I was looking to start knitting a large project and this multi-faceted grey loveliness is just right for the job...
Half an hour before we left the show... I headed to the P & M Woolcrafts stand and bought an Ashford Traveller! I couldn't wait to get home and put it together! Here I am posing with my Buca, new stash, and GORGEOUS spinning wheel...
