Saturday 10th July - I blended the prepped fibres into multicoloured batts in order to create smooth transitions from one colour to another when spinning. The extra carding also made sure that the yak was more evenly distributed within the cormo.
Sunday 11th July - I began spinning the batts into thick and thing medium weight singles, I enjoyed the effect of the little 'bubbles' of yak down, however they were easily pulled off so I made a note to slightly full the yarn when I'm done so they don't fall off when knitting with the skein. I spun just a little more than what is shown on the photo, then I got up and starting planning my 'rest' day!
Monday 12th July - I made fivekilos of soap; I only use olive oil soap and my stock levels were running low. I made up 2 loaves of bath soap, 2 loaves of facial soap, and one of shaving soap. I believe that this is enough soap to last me until I make a new batch next year!
Tuesday 13th July - No spinning was done today, I had to cut up the soap stacks into bars before they hardened too much and I got stuck with bricks! Pictured here are the calamine and rose bath soap bars. Decadence.
Wednesday 14th July - Finished off the first, and filled the second bobbin with the cormo/yak singles. Still trying to decide whether to navajo or 2 ply....
Thursday 15th & Friday 16th July - I spent these couple of days plying (I decided on 2ply), it really helped even out the bumpiness of the yarn so I'm happy happy! I haven't had much time to spend on the wheel but one bobbin was almost full by the end of the day!
Next week is Crunch Time if I want to get through my list of challenges!

Machelle - hi! These Yak and cormo batts and yarn look HEAVENLY ! - wow - I love the look of them. Alison
