Outside my window... the sun is shining and everything looks beautiful.
I am thinking... about the vanilla fudge I made this morning. I haven't got much of a sweet tooth, but my fudge is 'simply the best..' (sing it Turner Style!). No really, I make excellent fudge, I'm sharing this batch with some friends tomorrow.I just really hope it sets alright, seeing that rain is expected later on in the day.
I am thankful for... Buca. I adore my little dog so much. He spent a good 15 minutes today trying to find a place to hide a treat I gave him; at the end, he just ate it and got it over and done with.
I discovered... that my nose is not meant to wear swimming nose clips. I purchased three different ones over the past year and none of them stay put. The only clips I have found to stay on my giant nose were a pair that I bought very cheaply from a resort shop a few years back, I wish I hadn't carelessly tossed them now. At the time, I didn't know I would have a problem finding a replacement.
Outside my window... the sky is grey and it's drizzling down with rain. I'm glad the temperature is relatively mild, I have propped the windows open because I love the smell of fresh, clean air.
I am thinking... about a brand new colourwork project I plan to cast on later on in the week. My first real attempt at fair isle knitting in the round, quite exciting!
I am thankful for... my wonderful friends. My stress levels have been quite high over the past few weeks and I would have had a meltdown without their yarny/foodie/TV-watching support!
I discovered... that Vanish Oxy works to remove stubborn tar stains on my white workspace. Isn't it great to find multi-tasking products? This magical clothes whitening powder made me a very happy woman this morning.
...is over now!
I got back from my month-long trip to visit my family on Monday and I have been super busy trying to get back into my routine. I spent this morning packing up and posting orders, replying to emails (I didn't check my emails much on my break!), and being in a general 'frantic' frenzy!
I had a wonderful holiday, the photo above is one of my sisters' red-eared slider turtles. I love the way the little ones bask on TOP of the larger one's back. They were one of the first gyus I said Good Morning to when I woke up every day.. I was always greeted with splashing little 'plip-plops' of their claws, impatiently waiting to be fed. How I love them!
Not much to blog about with regards to knitting, since ( you won't believe this ) I didn't do any knitting for all three-and-a-half weeks! When I said I was going on a break, I really took a break. No knitting, no crocheting, no dyeing.. just relaxing with friends and family.
The Cardiff knitting group, Yarn and Yarn, celebrated it's third birthday yesterday. I spent the afternoon baking some cupcakes for the occasion. I did a much better job of icing them than last time (take a look at last year's cakes here), and everybody loved them Yippeee!
I didn't have a cupcake recipe on me at the time, so I improvised with a carrot cake recipe with cinnamon for added ZING. Here they are in their naked glory before I attacked them with my CHD-inducing buttercream cheese frosting...
The party took place at the very quaint Milkwood Gallery in Roath. The turnout was amazing, and we spent the evening knitting and chatting. I met up with people I hadn't seen for a while, and met lots of new knitters which was great.
