new yarn shop in cardiff!

23 May 2009

I spent my Saturday morning at Big Knitters, a new yarn shop that just opened up in Cardiff. I had gone to the initial opening on Thursday, but today I spent a little more time poking about!

It's a lovely little shop, and Anna and Angela, the owner and assistant respectively, were so helpful that 2 hours passed and I hardly felt it! There were some yummy cupcakes on offer and fresh brewed coffee... what else could I ask for?

The shop isn't very large, but the range available was quite impressive! Rowan, Sirdar, Bergere de France, Lang and Trekking sock yarns were on display, in a nice wide range of colours... I was happy that the newer Sirdar Calico yarns were available,as I absolutely LOVE this yarn and was disappointed with the limited colours available last year. I bought some balls of a shocking orange for a girl's cardi I'm going to cast on next week.

As for the knitting 'tools'... I'm going to have to admit I was too distracted by the yarns to look at them! I'm not really in the market for anything but the Knitpro dpn sock needle set and they didn't have them there so I just drifted back to stroking the yarns..

If you're a knitter whos looking for a proper yarn store in Cardiff, go to Big Knitters and support a local business! It's in the Globe Centre on Wellfield Road!

I'm off to play with my new yarns now!
