The Cardiff knitting group, Yarn and Yarn, celebrated it's third birthday yesterday. I spent the afternoon baking some cupcakes for the occasion. I did a much better job of icing them than last time (take a look at last year's cakes here), and everybody loved them Yippeee!
I didn't have a cupcake recipe on me at the time, so I improvised with a carrot cake recipe with cinnamon for added ZING. Here they are in their naked glory before I attacked them with my CHD-inducing buttercream cheese frosting...
The party took place at the very quaint Milkwood Gallery in Roath. The turnout was amazing, and we spent the evening knitting and chatting. I met up with people I hadn't seen for a while, and met lots of new knitters which was great.
Anyhow, back to the cakes. I was greeted at the gallery with these Death By Chocolate Cupcakes by the official cake-maker, Marianne...
After I 'sampled her buns', I turned to find Amy (Yarn and Yarn co-founder), standing by the Official Yarn and Yarn Birthday Cake..
Amy was so kind as to bake a special Smarties cake for the celebration, Thanks Amy! Unfortunately, I didn't have any more room for cake after having eaten some on mine before I arrived, so I will have to repeat what others have said. Delicious.
As we sat, ate, knitted and chatted, this charming fellow watched us...
Time flew by surprisingly quickly, and the next thing I knew, it was a quarter to ten and I was Tired. I had had a long day, and by the end of it, I was feeling just like this dude looks...
Until next time!

Such lovely photos Machelle, and what a great night. All the cakes were amazing, I sampled every one of them :)
Oh my God. Those cupcakes are beautiful! I like the one with the sprinkles. And is that piped ganache? You rock Machelle.
