eucatree bud soap debut

03 May 2008

I just got home from the first day of the May Craft Fair at the Red Dragon Centre; I almost forgot how tiring all this standing and smiling can be! My face and feet are THROBBING!

Because of the fantastic feedback we got about the Tea-Tree and Lavender Soap samples we had given out last month, I made up a batch to sell at the fair this month. I called it Eucatree Bud; it was flying off the table! Lots of people seemed to like the combination, and quite a few people said they were going to come back the next day with friends/family members so they can get a bar as well... Now do you understand why I was smiling so much?

My sister, Mol, was displaying her handmade goods at the fair as well. She had 2 weeks to prepare.. and her crocheted dolls were a great hit with the little girls!

A lady who owned a gift shop in Brecon asked if she could stock the Amoebugs (derived from Amoeba-Hugs: soft toys) in her shop! You can read about what she's up to on her blog at tubachingching.wordpress.com

Because I woke up late this morning, rushed to Cardiff Bay, and was exhausted pretty much right after setting up, I didn't get to walk around much today.

However, I did manage to chat with the lovely couple in the stall next to mine; Sarah and Jerry Warden-Smith of Bezeal. They had a gorgeous display of jewellery, made entirely by themselves, using semi-precious stones and sterling silver.

They had a beautiful selection of beaded bracelets...

...and pearl necklaces

I had the opportunity to watch Sara at work throughout the day, I was amazed at her attention to detail and the way her hands formed what seemed like a mass of wire and beads into this!

You can visit the Bezeal website, I was told that they will be offering their wares for online shoppers very soon!

Peter Birch
. Now THAT’S a name I was surprised to see at the stall behind mine! I had been ‘stalking’ this particular artists’ blog for a few months now, and until halfway through the day, had no idea that he was the gentleman I was chatting with that morning! You can see more of his work on his blog.

His table was filled with colourful, inspiring pieces; very earthy, very unique. I really cannot describe his work any better than he did on his information leaflet:

“I take materials that are found in nature and use them to express idea about the land from which they were taken. As an artist, I work with the idea of taking something that is naturally beautiful and then adding a more personal and artistic dimension to it, so that it can become part of the fabric of our homes and lives” Peter Birch: Visual Artist

I will be posting more photos and 'blurbs' over the next few days... Right now I just need to rest so I'm in a less-exhausted state tomorrow morning!
